CHRIS AKA KIBBE
Chris aka Kibbe, is a native of San Antonio and a Holmes/Business Careers High School graduate. He completed both his Bachelor of Arts in History and Master of Arts in Adult and Higher Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). He enjoyed his college career so much that he decided to work at UTSA and has been there since 2005.
“Before CrossFit, I had no athletic background. Through years of yoyo dieting and only running/walking every once in a long while on a typical gym treadmill, my body was not exactly what one would call either “fit” or “well”. I walked into my first CrossFit gym in October 2012 without the ability to do a pull up or proper push up. In fact, I had never picked up a barbell in my life. Those first few classes can be intimidating. Seeing other athletes pick up heavy weights, perform gymnastics movements with ease, and being able run fast can be daunting. Interesting side note, Liz and Rudy were some of my first coaches and they were there to ease my concerns and partner with me on my wellness journey. Additionally, I quickly found a sense of community and friends. Everyone is there to cheer each other on and to support one another. With CrossFit, I Immediately began to see results and I found myself actually looking forward to working out (maybe not in the middle of the workout but both before and especially after). Through the years, I have been able to increase my strength, stamina, power, agility, etc. Looking back it is amazing to realize how far I have traveled.
If you have not heard it before, let me be the first one to tell you, you don’t have to be an athlete to join. I am living proof. It is okay to be nervous/anxious. Myself and the rest of this amazing team I get to work with are ready to help you either continue or start your fitness/wellness journey.”
